Few days ago I had group criic regarding my egg packaging, I received positive feedback, now I have to start creating some graphics for my packaging:

Making box stable

After few more developments I came up with idea to make some slots, which will lock packaging side to side and will make it stable. Aslo I made prototype, which I will present to my tutor soon. The prototype is a lot smaller then actual box, which I will make if design will be accepted by group critic and tutor:

Further developments

When finished drawing all parts in Adobe Illustrator taking in count all measurements I moved to the next step- I had to cut it out using laser cutting machine. The only one problem was - I wanted to assemble my packaging without using any glue, but In this case it was unsteady.

First design ideas

I was thinking about how can I make egg packaging looking differently, what should I do to create completely new design. Few days was confused. Until I spot a puzzle box under my table; and I thought- what If I make a 3D puzzle box. i was good idea. I started drawing my packaging with a pen and paper, when it was ready- I opened Adobe Illustrator and draw my packaging in there based on sketches, which I draw by hand:

Also I did some research using internet. I wasn't able to find a lot of examples, but these, which I found look quite nice. As far as I confcerned, there's not so many variations of egg packaging. I think this industry is not properly developed yet.

Visiting Bankfield Museum

Today I visited Halifax Bankfield Museum. I spoke to Jeff Wilkinson about egg packaging design and asked if he has any examples of packaging. Espacially I was interested in Japanese packaging design. He showed me a book, where I was able to find amazing evidence of the way how Japanese people wrap eggs. These are examples from my research:
